President Obama to Deliver Back to School Speech September 14WASHINGTON, D.C. – As students begin their school year, President Barack Obama will deliver his second annual Back to School speech on Tuesday, September 14. The President’s Back to School Speech is an opportunity to speak directly to students across the country. Last year, President Obama encouraged students to study hard, stay in school, and take responsibility for their education.“Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity an education can provide,” President Obama said to students last year. The Community Athletic Booster Club is in desperate need of help in the concession stand during the 2010-2011 school year. The concession stand is the primary fundraiser for our athletic department. Each year, CABC awards scholarships to Community High School seniors, in addition to supplementing our supplies budgets to ensure that our kids have the absolute best in terms of uniforms and equipment. Every little bit helps, so if there is even one date in which you would be willing to volunteer, it would be greatly appreciated. If you a varsity parent, perhaps you could help during sub-varsity games and vice versa? This Friday is our varsity football season opener against Melissa is at home, so time is of the essence. If you would be willing to help, please contact Debbie Wilson at dwilson@cowboyweb.netor 972.965.3115. The district is searching for volunteers that would be willing to serve on the District Educational Improvement Committee. The DEIC serves an advisory role on establishing and reviewing the District’s educational goals and objectives. Meetings are usually set about a month in advance at 4:00 PM on a school day. There will be about five meetings per school year.We are looking for a parent of a CISD student, one business representative, and one community representative to serve on the committee with professional employees of Community Independent School District.
